HOW Just 30km from Danang airport or by road from Hue and Danang or further south.

WHAT The ancient town of Hoi An, one of six places granted world heritage status is a very popular destination renowned for its traffic-free streets.

Walking, biking or using a cyclo to explore the narrow streets stopping to visit the Japanese Bridge, the assembly halls of the Chinese from Fujian and Guangdong provinces, the Hong Phat Church, and the ancient merchant’s houses. Paradise for shoppers especially for those wanting to have clothes made at one of the many tailors. Ideal location for those who want to have a cookery class including a visit to the market to buy the ingredients.

Around 3km from town are the beaches of Cua Dai Beach with several resort hotels. A popular excursion is to vegetable gardens to learn about the crops and the farmers’ way of life and enjoy lunch. A more cultural trip is to the temple complex of My Son, the site of the former Champa kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

WHEN It is a year-round destination although there can be heavy rain between September and December, with occasional flooding.
